FVHDA Code of Conduct

If children are to grow and develop in their physical activity, an environment of positive communication and respect must exist.  Parents and dancers will follow the following:

FVHDA Parent Code of Conduct

I will remember that my child dances for his or her enjoyment, not for mine.
I will encourage my child to respect the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
I will teach my child that doing oneʼs best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of an event.
I will make my child feel like a winner every time by offering praise for competing fairly and trying hard.
I will never ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or losing at a competition.
I will remember that children learn best by example. I will applaud good performances by both my child and their competition.
I will not force my child to participate in dance.
I will never question the judge’s decision or honesty in public.
I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.
I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to support the dance competitions for my child, understanding that I have a responsibility to be a part of my childʼs development.

FVHDA Dancer Code of Conduct

I will remember that I dance for my enjoyment and not solely for the enjoyment of others.
I will respect the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
I understand  that doing oneʼs best is as important as winning, I will try never to feel defeated by the outcome of an event.  I will compete fairly and try hard.
I will applaud good performances and congratulate my competitors on their achievements.
I will never question the judge’s decision or honesty in public.
I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.
I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to support the dance competitions.
