Category Changes
If your dancer has changed categories (ex. Beginner, Novice, etc.) since you submitted their entry, please notify the Competition Secretary if you haven’t already done so.
Pre-Premier Dancers Competing At Another Competition Before March 16th
Is your Pre-Premier dancer competing at another competition within 2 weeks after the FVHDA and has the potential to change categories?
If so, you will need the FVHDA to issue you a temporary RSOBHD card. If this is a possibility, please email competitions@fvhda.org in advance so that we can be prepared to provide you with a temporary card after awards as required.
IMPORTANT: Temporary RSOBHD cards are only valid for 2 weeks so the upcoming competition must take place before March 16th.
Dancer Check-In
Competitors can pick up their numbers from the designated table upon arrival. A valid 2025 RSOBHD dancer registration card must be presented before their number will be released to them. A $10 non-refundable fee (cash only) will be collected from a dancer who is not able to produce a valid RSOBHD card. Any prizes won may be withheld until a valid card is presented.
Change Rooms
Both female and male change rooms will be available to dancers in the music classrooms located in the hallway off the entry/lobby area and will be identified with signs. A universal/family-friendly/gender-neutral change space is also available outside of the Mary Pratt Gallery (walk past the music classrooms and then take the hallway to the right). Please note that dancers must be dressed appropriately at all times in this area. There will be two pop-up change tents set up so that dancers have a private space to change costume undergarments.
Warm-Up Rooms
The following spaces can be used for warming up:
- Line-up room
- Hallway outside music classrooms (dancers may bring their own foam matting for personal use)
- Dance classrooms near the Mary Pratt Gallery (available to Premier dancers only as of 11am; street shoes are strictly prohibited in these rooms as they will damage the floors)
Etiquette for Theatre Entry and Exit
Please enter and exit the theatre from the top of the stairs. The lower doors are reserved to those requiring an accessible entry/exit, judges and volunteers. To minimize noise and disruption, enter and exit the theatre between dances only (that is, as dancers are entering or exiting the stage).
Platform Schedule
Morning dancing will begin at 9am starting with the Primary dancers. Afternoon dancing will not begin before 12:30pm for the Premier dancers. Links to the platforms schedules are available below. A reminder to always review the Platform Schedules in advance so that you are familiar with the order in which the categories will dance (as they can vary from competition to competition).

2025 Debut Event
The annual FVHDA Debut Event will take place in the morning after Primary dances. This is an opportunity for dancers who have never competed before to perform on stage in a competition setting. The FVHDA is very excited to offer an all-ages Debut again this year! Some dancers will be performing Pas de Basques and Pas de Basques & High Cuts while others will be performing the Fling. Our 2025 Debut dancers would really appreciate the support and encouragement of our audience members!
Change Break
As this competition consists of highland dances only, a costume change and change break are not required.
Concession
A concession service will not be available at this competition. There will be tables setup in the entry/lobby area for those who would like to bring their own food and drinks. Please note that only water is allowed in the theatre.
Trophy Return
A reminder to dancers who may have an FVHDA perpetual trophy in their possession from the 2023-2024 season or from the 2024 Open competition to kindly contact awards@fvhda.org to arrange for their return as soon as possible.
